Artist Biography
Embarking on her keyboard studies at the remarkable age of four, Mengwei has shown deep fascination for the Piano. With a realisation of her strong innate talent, her parents then admitted her to the Yamaha Music School of Young Talents in Singapore, where she studied under the guidance of Ms. Goh Shiao Ging, majoring in piano performance. She graduated from Yamaha Music School in 2022, acclaiming the completion of both the Junior Special Advanced Course and Senior Special Advanced Course (SSAC), along with the Yamaha Grade 5 certification.
In 2019, Mengwei received a scholarship from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Singapore to participate in the Nanyang International Piano Academy (NIPA) in 2020 as an aspiring pianist. She then had the opportunity to study under internationally renowned faculties from renowned conservatories, including Mr Shaun Choo, Professor Claudius Tanski, Professor Nigel Clayton and Mr Loo Bang Hean, further refining her performance skills and development on her musical interpretation.
She competed in the Yamaha International Piano Competition in 2020 and proceeded to the finals, presenting works from composers such as Robert Schumann (Fantasiestücke Op.12) and Claude Debussy (Arabesque No.1). Her repertoire spans a wide range of styles, reflecting her versatility and deep engagement with classical music.
Currently, Meng Wei is pursuing her studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), where she is enrolled in the Diploma of Music program under the mentorship of Mr. Seet Wen Kai, professor from the School of Young Talents in Singapore.
